Launching a new energy-efficient circulation system that increases profitability and improves fish welfare

MMC First Process has developed and sold the first newly designed circulation system; AQU Green Circ for wellboats

The AQU Green Circ system for wellboats is far more energy efficient than traditional solutions

We have worked closely with Framo as the pump supplier in the new system, and with their submersible pump we have arrived at an innovative solution that is now patented. There will still be a need for some traditional pumps, but we see that the footprint can be drastically reduced with the new system in combination with the Framo pump, says Frank Edvard Vike, CSO Handling at MMC First Process.

The circulation system

Through an extensive development process, MMC First Process has designed a system that reduces energy demand during the transport and handling of fish in wellboats. The circulation system ensures a stable and controlled water flow, providing better water quality and optimal conditions for the fish.

The key to success

The success of this project has been the close collaboration. MMC First Process has not just bought pumps from Framo – they involved us early in the process and allowed us to contribute with our technology, expertise, and above all experience. This creates room for truly good solutions that redefine “standards” in the industry, says Terje Ljones, Managing Director of Framo Aquaculture.

Fewer pipes

The technology also reduces the amount of piping, the need for pipe cleaning, and enables a better hygienic design of the water circulation system. With less piping, shipyards save on installation, and more space and volume become available for fish or other equipment.

Extremely well received

According to MMC First Process, the AQU Green Circ system has been very well received by customers, ship designers, and shipyards. There is a strong need to renew the wellboat fleet both in Norway and abroad.

We are proud to be able to deliver a system that not only improves fish welfare but also contributes to increased profitability and sustainability for our customers. With this launch, we confirm our position as a leading player in fish handling technology. Our goal is always to develop solutions that set new standards, says Frank Edvard Vike.
